Shredding

If the metal chips are flowable a shredder may not be needed. However if chips are stringy or bushy shredding equipment is essential. To briquette chips efficiently the chips must be broken since Briquetters require free flowing chips. There are several types of shredding equipment. The Wadbuster® is the simplest and easiest shredder to maintain. The Wadbuster® shredder feeds a parts separator at a metered rate so that efficient parts separation can be achieved prior to the metal chip briquetter or chip wringer. It is not unusual to have a Wadbuster® feed a two-roll shredder or hammermill in order to get extremely fine chips before introducing chips to the briquetter. Briquetters require broken and flowable chips with piece parts and bar ends removed before briquetting. In order to determine the most effective shredder your metal chips may need to be tested.
