Infloor Collection And Chip Processing
Including Conveyors and Centrifuges for Chip Processing
An infloor collection is most often included as part of new plant construction. It is normally not economical to install this type of equipment in an existing plant setting because trenches and pits are required for various pieces of equipment. There are several choices of conveyors that may be used in infloor collection and chip processing conveyance.
Chip Plow to Centrifuges System
A chip plow offers best solution to carrying waste chips from the machines to the centrifuges or briquetting area. Simplicity of design is one of the main features of this type of conveyor. It essentially has only one moving part; the ram that extends and retracts approximately 60 inches, indexing the chips forward with each extension stroke. The chip plow discharges the collected chips into an elevating screw conveyor/shredder combination that feeds centrifuges or a briquetting press. Cutting fluids retained by the centrifuges or briquetting process are typically filtered and subsequently returned to the machine tool for reuse. CSI has many systems working in the field every day that operate at a high level of reliability.
Exclusive infloor feature
CSI has eliminated the necessity of having drives mounted in pits. Eliminating pit mounted drives in an infloor collection and chip processing system is a technological break-through. This design was developed by CSI in order to improve system reliability and make maintenance tasks much easier to perform. The development of the patented Wadbuster® is the reason that the combination shredder and screw conveyor drive was developed.
The design is quite simple: The Wadbuster® shredder wheel is mounted on a screw conveyors drive shaft. There are separate drives for the conveyor and the Wadbuster® since they rotate at different speeds. This design has proven to be very effective, and benefits from the general characteristics of outstanding performance and scalability. The Wadbuster® is an ideal device to prepare metal chips for centrifuges or briquetter.
Other Systems
Occasionally, chip conveyors other than the chip plow and screw conveyors are the right choice to satisfy a specific system requirement. CSI manufacturers an extremely broad range of centrifugation and chip processing equipment as well as chip conveyors to satisfy the infeed to chip centrifuges, a briquetter, washer or dryer.

The CSI Difference
Remember, no matter what type of system you are looking for to convey your waste material to your centrifuges, CSI can help you design and implement your metal waste recycling system.
